What is Reiki?

reiki1.jpg

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique to promote healing and wellness.  The word reiki is composed of 2 Japanese words: Rei which means “God or Higher Power” and Ki which means “life force energy”.  Simply, Reiki is spiritually guided life force energy.

Reiki is a simple, non-invasive, safe, gentle technique of energetic healing.  You will sometimes hear Reiki referred to as energy work.  This healing energy covers your physical body including tissues and organs plus your energetic centers known as chakras.  Reiki can be used to scan the physical, emotional and energetic body to identify blockages, maladies and/or areas that need attention.  The energy then goes to these areas to promote healing.

Reiki is done by an attuned practitioner by laying hands directly on the client's body, above their body or over distance.  Working with the practitioner and Reiki energy to identify energetic areas the client can continue healing work with self care while not in session.

Benefits of Reiki:

  • Promotes healing

  • Relieves stress and tension

  • Reduction in anxiety

  • Improves sleep

  • Enhances mind-body connection

  • Eases muscle tension

  • Heightens self awareness

  • Increases mental clarity

-The Center of Being, Inc

The most common massage I perform is full body with medium-ish pressure using deep tissue techniques in focused areas with relaxation strokes mixed in.  The service that best matches my style is the Relax & Renew Massage.  I love to add Reiki to the R & R massage as it adds a deeper layer of relaxation and subtle energy healing.

What are the different types of massage?

Swedish massage is the most common type of massage.  It involves long, sweeping and kneading strokes. This modality is great for relaxation and warming up the tissue to relieve soreness and tension.  This type massage technique is used in the Relax & Renew Massage.  I always use Swedish massage to warm up the body in preparation for deeper work.

Deep tissue massage uses firmer pressure to address the deep muscles and connective tissue.  This type of massage is excellent for chronic aches and pains.

Using both of these techniques I customize each massage to address the unique needs of the client.

What are the benefits of massage?

What are the benefits of massage?

I believe that massage is a long-term healing process,

especially for those that have chronic issues.

For example, if your back has been bothering you for years it will most likely take multiple sessions along with personal lifestyle changes to fully resolve that particular issue.

Sporadic massage will help whatever is ailing you,

but the results are sometimes short lived.

My personal motto is

"I am here for a good time and  a long time".

I want to have fun, be active, chase after my nieces &

nephews, travel, eat well, etc for as long as possible.

I do this by many different healing modalities but mostly through bi-weekly massage, sometimes to relax and other times to

focus on chronic issues.

With regular sessions & corresponding lifestyle changes

I believe that massage can be truly life changing.

Your health is worth focusing on & investing in.
